Have you ever been to Baclaran? As we all know, it is a very busy place — crowded and traffic. A huge amount of devotees attend mass at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and shoppers go to the marketplace. It is a hub for religion and trade. But did you know that there is a place where you can find peace and good food despite it all? A new gathering place was created for churchgoers and foodies to try. Pista Food Hall is a new food destination created to gather people in an unusual place. Located in the heart of Baclaran. A food court that will satisfy your Filipino food cravings!
PISTA FOOD HALL
The first time I visited Pista was when I assisted my cousin, Ben, for a photoshoot at the Food Hall. We were given the opportunity to try the food they serve and I can say that it was amazing. Our common Filipino Food but better! Especially the Bulalo sa Itim, Kare-kare and of course the seafood! I told it to my girlfriend and invited her to visit the place one of these days.
After months of neglecting the idea because of the proximity of the area to us, we decided to celebrate her birthday there. We tried the Buffet that is worth 348 Pesos for the Regular Filipino Buffet, but we got it for 299 Pesos and a free one head because of the birthday promo. The buffet includes Filipino main dishes, noodles (Pancit), street foods, fruits, and soups (Arroz Caldo). It is not just the food but also the food hall’s ambiance that kept us enjoying the place. It’s very spacious, well-lit, and homey. A place for family and friends to gather.
FOOD STALL CRAVES
If you’re not into the buffet, food stalls are available for you to choose from depending on your cravings. Here is the list of the six:
HIGOP – can you imagine that hot liquid, hitting your taste buds, going through your esophagus, and heating your hungry tummy? Yum! Higop is all about soup-based dishes that will surely increase your appetites such as Angus Beef Bulalo, Litson Belly Sinigang, Special Arroz Caldo, and many more!
KALYE KAINAN – you guessed it right, Street foods! From Kwek-kwek, kikiam, fish ball to chicken skin! All of our favorites minus the Hepa. Clean and delicious!
LITSONERO – the sinful of them all. From the tempting Litson Belly, Litson Manok, to the “putok batok” Crispy-pata, you’ll be left kneeling and praying for good health. Haha!
IHAW – they serve anything grilled or sizzled. From pork, baticolon, liempo, tenga (ears), betamax, tokwa, banana, to even corn, may it be as a snack or as your main dish. You name it, they will grill it!
FRESH SEAFOOD PALUTO – ahhh, the most craved food by most of us. Seafood! Shrimps and crabs soaked in butter and partnered with corn and lemon.
MANGKOK – the home of our favorite Lutong-Bahay dishes. Adobo, Caldereta, Binagoongan, and their must-try Kare-kare (Angus Beef, Crispy Lechon, and Spicy Seafood). Eating these will trigger you how to prepare the ordinary lutong-bahay to a five-star dish.
A unique idea to position it in a place we’ve never expected it to be. This reminds us to think outside the box, to start a spark into the unknown and observe the beautiful change that will sprout. Gather everyone you know and take a feast at Pista Food Hall!
